.day 140: the big reveal.

So, it's official! Our little Jelly Bean is... wait for it... a little girl!

As soon as the technician put that ultrasound wand on my bloated belly, I knew. He asked, "Do you want to know the sex?"

I thought to myself, "Uh, already I KNOW the sex. That, my friend, is a girl; there ain't a 'dangle' anywhere to be seen," but Hubs and I both just said, "Yes."

I watched as he typed on the screen the word I already knew was coming: girl.

I glanced at Hubs, worried that he might be crushed, but he was grinning from ear to ear. I was grinning, too.

We both enjoyed seeing our baby wiggle and move as the tech took measurements and saved pictures onto a flashdrive for us to take home. When he tried to get a profile shot, she kept her face turned just out of sight.

After a few minutes of trying to get a good close-up, the technician asked if I would push on the opposite side of my belly to try to get her to move. I did. Her response: to turn a little, but only to position herself  better to give my hand several good kicks, as if to say, "Mom! Knock it off! You're crowding my space!" I had to laugh at her saucy antics. She has quite a personality already!

Our little girly bean is measuring four days ahead, is healthy as can be and, obviously, feisty to boot. Seeing her move around on the screen made me a little weepy. She is perfect. *happy sigh*

It may take a little while for the shock to wear off, since Hubs and I were both convinced that this one was a boy, but we are both thrilled!

And heck, we already know we make super cute girl babies; Ladybug is awfully adorable!

Here, for your viewing pleasure, are some pictures of Jelly Bean! The first is the best profile we could manage and the second is the series of pictures the tech took while she was kicking at my hand while trying to get said profile picture (click the image to make it larger). That last picture in that sequence shows her kicking with some pretty impressive force for a person who weighs less than a pound!

Isn't she just precious?

P.S. Today just happens to mark my 20th week on the nose, so even though I will likely be pregnant for longer than the typical 40 weeks, I'm counting today as halfway there! Huzzah!

.a new look.

If you haven't noticed, I took the plunge and registered my blog under my very own domain name. I am at bedlamisbliss.blogpspot.com no more! With that, I figured it was time for a little makeover. Nothing too drastic, just a face lift.

Now, I know I will probably end up changing the design again sometime in the future (curse this OCD of mine), but for now, I'd like to introduce you to the new and improved...

.day 126: over the moon.

I was just now, this moment, sitting on the couch, watching the History Channel and folding laundry while Ladybug is taking her morning nap. Deciding that one load folded was worthy of a little break, I sat back and put my hand on my stomach... not expecting it to be kicked by the tiny baby currently hanging out in my belly!

That's right! I just felt Jelly Bean from the outside!

I kept my hand there for a few minutes and felt several more bursts of movement. I am so excited! There really is a baby in there! I mean, of course I already knew that there was a baby in there (if there wasn't, my growing waistline would be real cause for concern), but to actually feel, from the outside, the little movements of the child I'm carrying is overwhelming!

.day 25: a gift for hubby.

All I could think about when I saw the screen on the digital test yesterday was how I was going to surprise the Husband. When we got pregnant with our sweet little Ladybug, the Husband found out when I did (mostly due to the fact that after seeing my positive result, I ran into our room and started yelling and jumping on the bed... poor, poor husband...).

So this time around, I really wanted to do something cute to tell him he was gonna be a daddy... again. Thankfully, I do have a knack for everything cheesy. After brainstorming, I finally came up with the idea to give the Husband a present, a box wrapped in paper and filled with suggestive items.

Oh, come on, people! Not that kind of suggestive! Things that might give him a hint (i.e. suggest) that a baby was in our future.

Ironically, I had already gotten a sitter for today so I could surprise the Husband with a romantic lunch date. I decided that would be the perfect time to give him his special gift.

I told him we were going to go help my dad and step-mom with yard work, but when we arrived I said, "Honey, I lied. You and I are going out for lunch!" He picked Applebee's as our dining location as it was close and he had a hankerin' for a burger.

As we exited the car, I pulled out a wrapped box from the trunk. He asked what it was and I said, "You'll have to wait and find out." We sat and chatted until our food arrived. After eating our meals, I asked the Husband if he would like to open his gift. He said that he would. I pulled out the camera and said I wanted to "get a picture"... instead I hit record to capture his reaction all 007, sneaky-like.

He pulled out some soda POP, POP tarts, POPcorn, Tootsie POPs... are you seeing a trend here? 'Pop' as in 'Dad?' I even threw in some Sugar Babies for good measure. He kept looking at me with a puzzled look on his face as if he were asking, "Why did you give me a box of random junk food?"

In the bottom of the box, hidden by tissue paper and sugary snacks, was the positive digital pregnancy test with it's blaring declaration of "PREGNANT."

He smiled and said, "Really?" I nodded. "That's so awesome!" We both got a little teary eyed at this point and I turned off the camera. It was really a touching moment and the perfect way to tell the best daddy in the world that we're going for round 2.

.day 24: i love technology.

Since yesterday's test didn't have me convinced, I decided to splurge and get a fancy digital test. Since I am frugal to a fault, I usually stock up on dollar store tests and had a hard time spending a whopping 12 bucks for a measly two tests.

Oh, well.

I convinced myself to only use one of the digital tests if I got another positive dollar store test, as not to waste my twelve dollar, baby-predicting investment. I used the dollar store test, but the line was so faint after the 3 minute window I couldn't tell if I was seeing things.

I decided, what the hay! I would use one of my precious, high-tech tests! Twelve dollars be "darned!"

I felt a little blasphemous actually urinating on what equated to 6 dollars in cash, but I did it, in the name of discovery! And what did my adventurous spirit, lavish spending spree, and wanton tinkling get me? Take a look for yourself:

It's official. I'm expecting baby number two! And if I say so myself, twelve bucks was totally worth it...
