.day 25: a gift for hubby.

All I could think about when I saw the screen on the digital test yesterday was how I was going to surprise the Husband. When we got pregnant with our sweet little Ladybug, the Husband found out when I did (mostly due to the fact that after seeing my positive result, I ran into our room and started yelling and jumping on the bed... poor, poor husband...).

So this time around, I really wanted to do something cute to tell him he was gonna be a daddy... again. Thankfully, I do have a knack for everything cheesy. After brainstorming, I finally came up with the idea to give the Husband a present, a box wrapped in paper and filled with suggestive items.

Oh, come on, people! Not that kind of suggestive! Things that might give him a hint (i.e. suggest) that a baby was in our future.

Ironically, I had already gotten a sitter for today so I could surprise the Husband with a romantic lunch date. I decided that would be the perfect time to give him his special gift.

I told him we were going to go help my dad and step-mom with yard work, but when we arrived I said, "Honey, I lied. You and I are going out for lunch!" He picked Applebee's as our dining location as it was close and he had a hankerin' for a burger.

As we exited the car, I pulled out a wrapped box from the trunk. He asked what it was and I said, "You'll have to wait and find out." We sat and chatted until our food arrived. After eating our meals, I asked the Husband if he would like to open his gift. He said that he would. I pulled out the camera and said I wanted to "get a picture"... instead I hit record to capture his reaction all 007, sneaky-like.

He pulled out some soda POP, POP tarts, POPcorn, Tootsie POPs... are you seeing a trend here? 'Pop' as in 'Dad?' I even threw in some Sugar Babies for good measure. He kept looking at me with a puzzled look on his face as if he were asking, "Why did you give me a box of random junk food?"

In the bottom of the box, hidden by tissue paper and sugary snacks, was the positive digital pregnancy test with it's blaring declaration of "PREGNANT."

He smiled and said, "Really?" I nodded. "That's so awesome!" We both got a little teary eyed at this point and I turned off the camera. It was really a touching moment and the perfect way to tell the best daddy in the world that we're going for round 2.
